Hi There.  I’m Raf Calderon, host of the Creating a Successful Business podcast.  If you’re interested in starting or improving your business you’re in the right place.

Let me tell you a bit about me.  I was born in the Dominican Republic.  My parents relocated my family to the USA when I was twelve.  Now I live New Jersey where I’ve been for the past 25 years.  I have a four year degree in Electrical Engineering.  I’m a husband to a wonderful wife and a father of four beautiful children.

This is the blog for my podcast, which is also called Creating a Successful Business.  The purpose of this blog is to discuss my interests in the area of Entrepreneurship and Personal Development.  I’ll also post articles related to my career in Unix Engineering.

I want to highlight three reasons for starting the podcast and the blog.  First is that I believe in the concept of learning out loud.  Nathan Barry described this in his book Authority.  The idea is to teach as you learn.  When you do this you increase your learning speed and you become a participant instead of just a listener.  Because of this, I want to share with you my journey as I create my online business from scratch.

Second, is the law of attraction.  This says that when you want something you need to walk towards it and as you begin to do that the universe will find a way to answer your request.   The scriptures say “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you“.  You attract to you the things you speak about and seek out. It may not be immediately but surely little by little you’ll achieve your goal.  My interest is in business ownership so I want to talk about this topic.

Last but not least, I want to help people.  Businesses are started to help people  in specific areas.  The way I want to help you is by providing interviews with accomplished entrepreneurs to provide inspiration and practical, tested advice.  Along the way I’ll share the lessons learned from starting my own business.

So if this sounds interesting to you, please subscribe to the podcast and read the articles I’ll be posting in this blog.

Until next time
